Those pipes and odd-looking sprinklers do require some maintenance and upkeep. The following are some of the things you should do to keep your system in the ready: Never hang or suspend anything from a fire sprinkler or its pipe. Storage shall be maintained 18" or more below sprinkler head deflectors in sprinklered areas. All control valves shall be accessible at all times. Risers shall be kept clear and clean of obstructions. Authorized/licensed fire sprinkler contractors shall make repairs. Always make sure that spare sprinkler heads are available in the sprinkler box located near the riser. Outside control valves and fire department connections shall be accessible at all times. Protective covers shall be maintained on the fire department connection to prevent malicious obstruction of the inlets. |
