14.1
1941 Ford Engine
14.1.1
Purpose: The purpose of these
guidelines is not to limit "fun", but to protect the Association from
lawsuits and liabilities, and to comply with State laws and insurance
company rules and regulations.
14.1.2
Approved uses: The "Engine" is to be
used for musters, parades, Association, and District approved functions.
The Engine is not to be used for personal non-sanctioned activities unless
approved by the E-Board.
14.1.3
Children: All Children who ride on the
engine must be in the same area (cab or hose bed) with a supervising adult.
Adult to child ratio must insure the children’s safety. Children must be
seated during operation for safety.
14.1.4
Driver: The driver must be an Active
and District Association member with a current California driver's license,
and certified for the operation of the engine. (If used for pumping, then
the operator must be certified for pump operation also) All California
vehicle codes must be followed, especially concerning the consumption of
alcohol.
14.1.5
Alcohol: Open containers of alcohol
will not be allowed on the vehicle at any time. No person
considered to be under the influence of alcohol (or drugs) shall ride on or
in the vehicle during parades, musters, or contests. The Driver
has the final say concerning persons in or on the engine.
14.1.6
Violations of the above rules or any
California Vehicle Code Laws will be acted upon by the E-Board.
14.2
Hand Pumper and Trailer
14.2.1
Purpose: To promote the image of the
Association and District.
14.2.2
Approved Uses: Any function approved by
the Association or the District such as but not limited to static or dynamic
displays, musters, parades, fundraisers, education, etc.
14.3
Trailer
14.3.1
Purpose: For the transportation and
storage of the hand pumper only, or by special approval of the E-Board for
Association or District use.
14.3.2
Requirements for use:
14.3.2.1
Association members only with a current
California driver’s license and the proper or adequate vehicle insurance.
14.3.2.2
Trained in the theory, operation,
limitations, the loading, unloading, and securing of the pumper and trailer.
14.3.2.3
Trailer operation: An adequate vehicle,
1/2 ton minimum, in good working order must be used as the pulling
vehicle. The vehicle must also have the proper trailer wiring.
14.3.2.4
The authority to act on any item not
covered by this policy will rest with the chairperson and committee for the
hand pumper.
