Subject:  Board of Directors

I.         Purpose

To define the membership, configuration and compensation of the Board of Directors. To assure adherence to relevant sections of the Fire Protection District and Open Meeting Laws. 

II.        Board of Directors 

The District is governed by a Board of five (5) Directors, each elected at large by public election of registered voters of the District.           

A.        The Directors shall serve 4‑year terms which are staggered in two (2) year increments.  Election years shall be years ending in even numbers. 

B.        Directors must be registered voters of and reside within the District boundaries. 

C.        Directors will not serve as firefighters, fire officers or be employed by the District in any other position that would establish an employer / employee relationship with the Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Protection District. 

D.        Election of officers of the Board shall be done in accordance with Section 13853 of the California Health and Safety Code. 

E.        As authorized by the California Health and Safety Code Section 13857, each member of the District Board may receive compensation in an amount $100.00 per agendized board meeting attended, for no more than (4) four meetings each month.
