I.         History

In 1942 the Diamond Springs Volunteer Fire Company was officially formed as a fire protection organization. The Diamond Springs Fire Protection District was formed under provisions of Division 12, Part 3, Chapter 1, California Health and Safety Code Section. This was approved and adopted by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors on Sixth day of December, 1954 The District then conformed to new Fire Protection District Law of 1961, and now is in conformance with the Fire Protection District Law of 1987 (Health and Safety Code), which, under Senate Bill 515, repealed the Fire District Law of 1961.  In 1979 the Diamond Springs Fire Protection District merged with the El Dorado Fire Protection District creating the existing Diamond Springs – El Dorado Fire Protection District.

II.        Resolution of Formation 

A resolution of formation was completed and filed in accordance with the requirement of the law.  This resolution (1954-01), fixes Monday, December 6th 1954 at 1330 hours as a time for receipt of public hearing and petition for incorporation of the Districts’ boundaries.  At that time and place the petition was granted by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. 

Formation was completed pursuant to Division 12, Part 3, of the California Health and Safety Code.

III.      Objectives 

The objectives of the Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Protection District are to provide fire protection, rescue services, emergency medical services, hazardous material emergency response services, and other services to protect lives and property. 

III.      Service Area 

A.        The boundaries of the Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Protection District are shown on the enclosed map, exhibit A, that are recorded by the El Dorado County Local Agency Formation Commission. 

B.        The boundaries may only be changed by two thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the Directors and in accordance with the rules and regulations of El Dorado County Local Agency Formation Commission.

C.        Services may be extended beyond District boundaries by contract, agreement, or in the event of a local emergency at the request of another legally constituted Emergency Services entity.
